healing. Dr. Halpern was one of the first physicians to
use the Sciton Erbium Laser, and he helped pioneer its
use on laser resurfacing of the skin.
Dr. Joshua Halpern received a Bachelor of Science degree
in biology at the University of Southern California and
graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He
received his medical degree at Vanderbilt University
School of Medicine. The doctor performed his general
surgery residency at the University of South Florida and
completed his plastic surgery training in New York. Dr.
Halpern is a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta honor society
and was named "Outstanding Young Man of America" in
1988.

Dr. John O'Brien is certified by the American Board of
Plastic Surgery. He was born and raised in Niagara
Falls, New York, received his undergraduate degree from
Syracuse University with honors and completed his
medical degree from the State University of New York at
Buffalo.
Dr. O'Brien completed a five-year General Surgery
Residency at the State University of New York at
Buffalo. During his Chief Residency he was awarded the
"Resident Teacher of the Year Award" as voted by the
University medical students.
His plastic surgery training was completed at St. Joseph
Hospital and the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
While there, he worked with some of the true pioneers in
plastic and reconstructive surgery. He was involved with
several international goodwill missions for
reconstructive surgery in Central America.

years. He received his M.D. in 1978, spent his
internship in General Surgery at USF, and completed a
residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and
Facial Plastic Surgery at the Medical University of
South Carolina, in preparation for receiving his Board
Certification.
